2008 RACE REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAM

The goals of Redding Velo’s Race Reimbursement Program are:

  • Promote, direct, and support the sport of bicycle racing by encouraging competitive amateur members to enter races and/or to volunteer in the promotion of bicycle-racing events such as races, clinics, training, etc.

  • Promote the image, logos and products of Redding Velo, its sponsors, and the sport of bicycle racing by wearing the club jersey in races, and on training rides, and at bicycle-related events.

  • Maintain Redding Velo as an attractive club for its membership.
 Race Reimbursement Program (RRP) Requirements

1. Eligible races (Road, Mountain, CycloCross) are those officially sanctioned by an organization such as USCF or NORBA and are within the NCNCA region. Additionally, since we are a local team, we will reimburse results for local races (Redding, Weaverville, Mount Shasta and Whiskeytown).   Training races are not eligible even if they are sanctioned (for example, Early Bird Crits).

2. Racers must volunteer for a minimum of ten (10) duty points for the club.  See the table below for a list of suggested duties and the points they carry. Other duties must be approved by a vote of the Board of Directors (“B.O.D.”). You must perform one “big” duty which carries a weight of five (5) duty points or more, plus additional duties to accumulate the minimum required.  For example, a racer can earn five (5) duty points by volunteering as a clinic instructor and earn five (5) additional points by coming to 5 meetings.  Juniors (10-18 years old) are not required to have duty points or attend meetings to get reimbursement.

3. You must wear the team jersey or kit in the race and enter Redding Velo on the race entry form.  If you're a new member and haven't received a team jersey, you can be reimbursed if you wear a generic (plain) jersey (some new members make an effort to borrow a team jersey). If you are a current member, you must wear the current year's jersey, unless the clothing order hasn't arrived, in which case you must wear the previous year's jersey.

4. The amount of reimbursement is the cost of registration.  It does not include add-on registration fees (i.e. online fees, late fees, etc.) or day-licenses.  There is a $200 ($300-Juniors) cap on individual total race reimbursement per annum unless a special conversation is held with the race coordinator and Board of Directors.  Junior racers are eligible for an $80 clothing reimbursement if they participate in six (6) or more races.

5.  Upgrade:  The club rewards racers who upgrade in senior road categories by providing a one-time bonus.  $25 to Cat 4, $50 to Cat 3, $75 to Cat 2, and $100 to Cat 1.

6.  Keep track of your eligible race results.  If your results meet the criteria, record them on the Race Reimbursement Form.   Financial reimbursement will take place annually. Members should list events on the Reimbursement Request Form and submit to the club treasurer by December 31, 2008 for reimbursement by January 31, 2009. Requests may be turned in early, but reimbursements will only be paid in January 2009.  The total dollar amount paid by the club for reimbursement for the 2008 race year will be capped at $1200 for regular members and $1500 for Junior members. If valid reimbursement requests are received from either group in excess of its respective cap, all reimbursements within that group will be proportionally reduced so as not to exceed that cap.

 Separately funded teams
Riders on separately funded teams are not eligible for reimbursement from Redding Velo.
Travel Support
You may petition for financial support (up to $200) to travel from the NCNCA district to out-of-district races. This particular budget is limited!  You MUST petition prior to the event if you want support.  Petitions may be made through the Race Reimbursement Coordinator.
